hat is “Convention?” It’s a behind-the-scenes glimpse into a fictional presidential nomination campaign. It’s an unscripted look at what happens behind closed doors when candidates are fighting for the Patriot’s Party top prize.
The Show features three candidates; Jim McPherson, Albert Engle and Sandy Brewer and their support staff as they prepare for their weekly debates across the country. We follow each candidate and their support staffs, consisting of a campaign manager, spokesperson, and, in the case of Albert, a running mate.
The show plays every Tuesday at 7:30pm at the Avenue Theatre in Denver, 417 E. 17th Avenue. Each week, the candidates and their staffs will be in a different American city battling for two more delegates. For a complete history of the fictional Patriots Party see our primer, or you can see a full listing of which states will be represented each week on our schedules page. But “Convention?” offers the audience to also have their voice heard, just like in a real presidential campaign. Get involved in the show during the live debates, grill the candidates on their platforms, test their knowledge of politics, even have a chance to mingle with the candidates and their staffs and get to know them one on one. Then, when the show is over, vote for who you think won the debate. Every week we will track the winners and how many delegates they earn. It’s an unscripted, interactive and hilarious experience for anyone who has always wondered how a presidential nominee is really chosen.
At the end of the run, the candidate with the most delegates wins the Patriots Party nomination!
